Circle to Buy Tazapay to Expand USDC Rails

Circle’s planned acquisition of Tazapay marks a strategic push to deepen USDC’s role in cross-border payments. Tazapay says it processes $25 billion in annualized volume and supports payout rails in more than 100 markets, giving Circle access to a broader merchant and remittance network.

The transaction would extend Circle’s distribution footprint beyond its core stablecoin issuance business and into the infrastructure layer that moves funds across jurisdictions. That matters because stablecoin adoption increasingly depends on local payout connectivity, compliance coverage and reliable settlement routes, not just token liquidity.

For Circle, the deal could improve USDC’s utility in international commerce by tightening the link between on-chain settlement and off-chain payout execution. For Tazapay, alignment with a major stablecoin issuer may accelerate product integration and expand its appeal to businesses seeking faster, lower-friction cross-border transfers.
