Altseason Signal Emerges as Bitcoin Dominance Stalls

Glassnode’s Altcoin Cycle Signal has printed a fresh altseason reading, suggesting market leadership may be broadening beyond Bitcoin after a month of gains across both Bitcoin and altcoins.

The signal comes as Bitcoin’s market-cap share remains below 60%, a threshold many traders view as a key marker for whether capital is rotating into higher-beta digital assets. When Bitcoin dominance stalls, liquidity often begins to spread into large-cap altcoins first, then into more speculative segments of the market.

The timing matters. The broader crypto market is already operating in a risk-on environment, with the Fear and Greed Index at 78, or Extreme Greed. That backdrop can amplify moves in altcoins, but it can also make the market more vulnerable to sharp reversals if Bitcoin reasserts leadership or macro conditions tighten.

Glassnode’s reading does not guarantee a sustained altcoin rally. It does, however, indicate that recent price action has been strong enough across the sector to meet the firm’s cycle criteria. Traders will likely watch whether Bitcoin can reclaim a larger share of total crypto market value or whether altcoins continue to attract incremental flows.

For now, the setup points to a market that is no longer trading on Bitcoin alone. If the current structure holds, the next phase of the cycle could favor selective rotation into assets with stronger momentum, deeper liquidity and clearer narratives.
